The Gender and Development Association of Surigao State College of Technology in collaboration with the Philippine Commission on Women conducted a seminar for its campaign to End Violence Against Women at the Academic center, last Friday, 27th of November 2015.
The Dean, Programs and Standards of the college, Dr. Jhane R. Jabonero welcomed everyone and shared the rationale of the event. The GAD focal person, Dr.Leonelyn G. Malicay introduced the resource speaker-Atty. Graciano C. Compe Jr., OIC-District Public Attorney of both Surigao City and Surigao del Norte. He talked about basic GAD core concepts such as: Gender roles, gender stereotypes, gender as a social construct, manifestations of gender bias as well as the 18 important things to help End VAW.
Participants were very much enlightened and according to them such awareness was indeed essential to end VAW in the country.
